The Montlake Community Club Board of Directors is composed of the president, vice president, secretary and treasurer of the club, together with nine trustees. Trustees are elected to three-year terms and three trustees are elected every year. Trustees contribute to discussions at monthly board meetings, share perspectives and concerns of neighbors, and volunteer for committee work.
The MCC could not function without the work of volunteers, some of whom are listed below. Interested in joining the board or volunteering? Please contact us.
MCC Board

Heather is running for her second year as President of the Montlake Community Club and has served on the MCC for a total of 3 years. With a professional background in growing non-profit organizations, she has experience in philanthropy, board operations and project management. Heather plans to continue the good work of the MCC with a focus on improving transportation and safety in the neighborhood. She is also interested in growing and diversifying the MCC board and volunteer pool. Heather and her spouse, Eric, moved to Montlake 10 years ago and continue to be delighted to discover what a great neighborhood they selected. Heather loves her neighbors, frequents “Downtown Montlake”, and adores the Arboretum.

John Cordy – Vice President
John and his wife Carol have been Montlake residents since 1979, and raised three children in the neighborhood. John has been active in the community in various ways including delivering the Montlake Flyer for many years, parking cars for football games at the Montlake School, and jogging in the Arboretum. Newly retired from working for the State of Washington, John now has time to get more involved through the Montlake Community Club. John’s wife, Carol Cordy, is currently serving as the MCC Board Treasurer.

Carol Cordy – Treasurer
Carol and her family have lived in Montlake for 41 years. Her children attended Montlake Elementary School. She has been active over the years in several volunteer activities, including volunteering at Montlake Elementary. Carol joined the board to become more active in community projects. Carol’s favorite projects during her years on the Board have been the Turkey Trot food bank fundraiser and the Tiny House build.
Matt Heater – Secretary
Matt lives on Boyer Ave E with his wife (Mia), dog (Archie) and cat (Edie). They moved to the neighborhood in May 2018 and enjoy the proximity to the surrounding parks and waterfront. Matt is a graduate of UW and works in finance and technology. Matt’s goals on the board would be to drive better awareness of the neighborhood’s rich history, preserve the precious greenspaces, reduce litter and advance the business presence. All to be achieved by greater community participation, social engagement, and alliances with other organizations.

Chris Cumming – Trustee
Chris has been a Montlake resident since 2013. Chris joined the board to serve Montlake and help protect what is special about the neighborhood while working to make sure inevitable changes are positive. Chris is an active runner and cyclist who is familiar with pedestrian safety and bicycle and traffic issues.

Maureen Brown – Trustee
I have lived in Montlake for the past 22 years (at the corner of 23rd Ave E and Boyer). I am a family medicine physician (a colleague of Carol Cordy), teaching at the Swedish Family Medicine Residency Program and working at the Downtown Public Health Clinic. My professional interests include healthcare for homeless and other marginalized populations, as well as refugee and asylee health. I have worked on the Health Care for the Homeless Planning Council, and now its Community Advisory Group, for the past 20 years. My interests outside of work include hiking, birding, gardening and photography.

Danny Greco – Trustee
Danny and his wife moved to Montlake from Green Lake in the summer of 2015. Being involved in real estate, Montlake always appealed to Danny because of its central location and quick access to freeways and other arterials. Of course, the adorable neighborhoods and houses oozing with character didn’t go unnoticed. Not to mention being an avid UW supporter, walking to and from home games is a huge plus! What they’ve learned to love most about Montlake in their time as residents is the community bonding and annual events including the Turkey Trot and yard sale.
MCC Volunteers
Shannon Cumming – Communications Chair, Montlake.net Editor
Shannon moved to the neighborhood with her husband Chris and their son in 2013 and was a volunteer at Montlake Elementary for five years. Shannon is a copywriter who enjoys keeping up with what’s happening in the neighborhood. Socializing with neighbors is her favorite part of volunteering. She loves walking her dogs at the Playfields and in Interlaken Park.

Tomitha Blake – University of Washington Liaison
Tomitha returned to Seattle in 2012 to work at the University of Washington. She is proud to call this neighborhood her home and cites the coming light rail, Husky Stadium, UW, the Arboretum, the Montlake Playfields, and her amazing neighbors as a few of the reasons to love living in Montlake. Tomitha is a former trustee of the MCC and continues to serve as a liaison to the university. Her service to the MCC is inspired by long-time residents who championed a strong partnership with our vibrant business community to create a livable, engaged, safe neighborhood.

Kerry Clayman – Montlake.net
Kerry has lived in Montlake since 2003 and is a former MCC trustee. Her first Montlake home was in the Four Seasons Apartments and she now lives on 22nd Ave E with her husband John and two sons. Kerry’s grassroots efforts with neighbors on school district issues, and the support they got from the Montlake Community Club, inspired her to join the board.
