Your energetic Montlake Community Club board has begun a new project we are calling the Montlake Snow Brigade. Within a few days of our announcement on the website (www.montlake.net) we had 8 volunteers step forward. The snow brigade is a great idea we have borrowed from our friends in Madison Park. It’s a neighbor-helping-neighbor program to assist people in the event of a snowfall. We will hold an organizational meeting on Monday, December 9th at the library for our volunteers. The Madison Park Community Council has shared with us all their procedures and we will pass that information to the volunteers at that time.
Later in December we will advertise the snow brigade to all our neighbors so those challenged by a snowfall can contact the brigade and seek assistance. If you have a neighbor who has needed assistance in past snowstorms, please let him/her know the brigade is available. You can also make a referral to the brigade on behalf of a snowbound neighbor.
Our hope is that in the future our community club can offer more neighbor-helping-neighbor programs pairing volunteers with various interests and talents with neighbors who need assistance with various activities. Currently we have an active parent-to-parent resource, the Montlake Family Coop. Parents who are interested in learning about the coop can find it on our website under “Neighborhood“, then click on Resources.
Our website (www.montlake.net) continues to expand with more links and Montlake Flyer articles. From the Neighborhood section you will find a link to the Montlake Elementary School website. For the first time, our 2 websites are directly linked. For those neighbors who want to participate in the school’s fund raising, the school is again offering evergreens for the holidays. Again this year, the school will be selling Christmas trees, wreaths, door swags and garlands. All the information about the evergreen sales and other school activities are linked to our website.
