Fundraising efforts continue for the Sport Court and Fitness Equipment at Montlake Community Center Playfield. In a push to meet the project’s December 10th fundraising deadline, Montlake families delivered letters and brick order forms throughout the neighborhood to help raise the final $23,000 needed.
Initial construction has started on the project as seen in these images of the fitness plaza area next to the playground. Montlake family Fitness will be holding a community meeting on December 5, 2013 to review fitness equipment options.
The Department of Neighborhoods (DON) awarded the neighborhood project a $99,290 matching grant. This means that the project is required to match that grant dollar for dollar. Matching dollars are due by December 10th. With the DON award, the King County Youth Sports Facilities award recommendation and donations from the community, the community project has raised $177,000 of the $200,000 needed.
Montlake Family Fitness is asking neighbors to consider buying a brick or making a donation.
“Just as every brick paves a pathway, every donation gets us closer to our goal – we appreciate any and all donations towards this community project.”
