CHS has the first look details of U-Link’s Capitol Hill Transit station. The U-Link will take Montlakers to Downtown Seattle in 8 minutes and 3 minutes from the Montlake station to Captiol Hill.
Yes — we have “Big Troubles” here, now. The previous post, to which I now replying here, summarized some of the PROBLEMS their planning evidently leads to. Got to find out when and where some or many of us can show up (I mean at Council-member meetings) and tell our (Montlake) story !! (This paragraph was written and sent in by Larry Fogdall, a former member and chair of the Citizens Transit Advisory Committee, before a Metro manager abolished it!)
How are we supposed to get to the Montlake station or the Capitol Hill station if they eliminate the #43 bus route? I’m 70+ years old. Am I supposed to walk a mile or more in the dark and the rain to get to the train in order to get down town or to Group Health? The Montlake community needs to fight to keep our bus route.
Also with the elimination of access to SR 520 via Lake Washington Blvd. what do you suppose will happen to traffic on 24th Ave. E.? The big, ugly sign they’re planning to put up will do no good whatsoever. Unless, of course, diverting traffic to neighborhood streets or Boyer Ave. E is a fabulous alternative.
The light rail project is part of a number of projects to increase traffic flow through our neighborhood. Does anyone know what is happening with 23rd Avenue Corridor Improvement Project and who it affects 24th Ave E? Does anyone know anything about the sign they want to put up at 24th Ave E/E Lee Street?

Using E. Lynn & 22nd Ave E. as a median “Montlaker” location, the 0.7 mile walk to the University Sound Transit station adds about 14 minutes.
