Rezoning Task Force Update – Good news, Great Info and Action!

June 19, 2025 by esterb Leave a Comment

Posted by Janice from the Montlake Rezoning Task Force

First off, you will recall from my last update that we didn’t have official word that our
Neighborhood Center boundaries had officially changed. But now we do!

Click here and scroll down to Montlake to see the original boundaries (dotted line) and the current boundaries (solid line) per Seattle’s Office of Planning and Community Development (OPCD).
To summarize, the blocks adjacent to the Arboretum have been removed and the WSDOT (old Hop-In) site has been added.
Secondly, the Montlake Rezoning Task Force (MRTF) is now participating with a group of 19 other neighborhoods, Seattle Residents for Thoughtful Growth (SRTG), in response to the city’s legislation for implementation of the State’s HB 1110 which basically eliminates single family zoning in the State of WA. The City is adding capacity that is not required along with eliminating setbacks/trees and increasing heights and lot coverage while not truly providing affordable housing!

For more information, please click here for the June 16th Newsletter!
The newsletter is full of wonderful information on this issue. It also includes key dates, one of which is June 23rd . And it inspires easy action – sign the petition, write a letter to City Council (it gives you help), and/or attend the 9:30 am virtual City Council meeting or the 3pm in person meeting on June 23rd .

As always please contact MRTF at Zoning@Montlake.net with any questions.
