Landscape Design Lecture: From England to Olmsted

“English Landscape Design and its Influence on the West”

Come enjoy an evening of beautiful slides and discussion of how the British Landscape Movement influenced American Western style of gardening. We will visit English gardens of 1600s, American Colonial estates, and view some of Fredrick Law Olmsted’s creativity and ideals of Natural design.
Included in this lecture are slides of English gardens from 1600s and 1700s, a few American Colonial gardens – some formal and some open, Central Park, NY, and university campus design, including UW campus
