The next time you see your neighbor walking their cat you just might notice something different — the cat will likely be wearing a leash. The cat leash craze has become the latest fad to sweep trendy Montlake. A spokesperson from one local market said “cat leashes are our hottest selling item; they are flying off the shelves.” Another local store reported Black Friday shoppers were waiting outside for hours and then rushed in grabbing handfuls of cat leashes in a wild frenzy.
At a press conference last week, the mayor praised Montlake saying, “this is a new day; Montlake has finally shown us how cat leashes can have a positive impact on our lives; birds, rats, and very small chickens can finally live without fear or threat.” Yesterday, caving to pressure from the “Cats are People Too Coalition,” the council held an emergency session and passed a resolution encouraging dog owners to share off leash parks with cats because “it could really be something to watch.” One local cat owner said, “my cat loves his new leash, just yesterday I was able to drag him all the way to U Village and back.” The cat was not available for comment.
Happy Holidays!
