Mr. Johnson’s Final Warehouse Sale Saturday 3/11!

March 3, 2023 by Antiqueshopkeep Leave a Comment

Dear friends and neighbors,

Mr. Johnson’s Antiques will be hosting a huge warehouse “clearance sale” on Saturday, March 11th. The shop will open early at 10AM, and maintain our standard hours until 7PM. This will be the last and final sale from our 1500+ sq. ft. warehouse space, still packed full of antiques and collectibles.

We’ll be selling a wide range of items, including: many picture frames, framed and loose art, a large book collection, glassware, metal items, silver and silverplate, China, dishware, hardware and lamp parts, furniture, and many other old and unique items!

Note: I just added a large collection of music, art and movie posters to the sale and will continue to add more neat stuff leading up to the sale. EVERYTHING really MUST GO! Bargaining welcome, as I will be giving up the “warehouse” at the end of March.

So, please come and join us for what promises to be an exciting sale. After renewing our lease in October 2022, it’s very important to mention that Mr. Johnson’s Antiques WILL REMAIN part of the Montlake community for years to come! We are excited for the opportunities that our renewed lease contract will offer to Montlake and the neighboring communities. Although the square footage will be reduced, our remaining 1400 sq. ft antique store and “showroom” is looking better than ever and the quality of our inventory is improving constantly. Especially within the categories of fine & decorative art, high end collectibles and desirable quality objects.  Please consider stopping by and grabbing a wonderful keepsake or three from the end of the ‘warehouse era’ at Mr. Johnson’s Antiques!

We will be open rain or shine! If there’s rain, we’ve got you covered. Literally.

Your support is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you,

– Matt, Colman, & “the Crew”

Plan ahead for Turkey Trot Impacts on Thanksgiving Morning

November 23, 2022 by ssandall Leave a Comment

The 7th Annual Montlake 5K Turkey Trot and Kids Run will be taking place Thanksgiving morning starting at 9AM. Registration will stay open through midnight tonight and reopen tomorrow morning, but prices will increase.

We are so grateful to the amazingly supportive neighborhood!  This year has broken our registration records and we have already raised an additional $13,500 for UDFB!

While this is amazing, we also recognize that this event impacts the neighborhood with street closures, no parking zones, and an influx of people.

Street closures are indicated in the image but can also be viewed online.  Streets with red dashes indicate No Parking Zones which will be enforced from 6AM-1PM.  However, for most of 25th Street, neighbors can start parking again once the runners clear out, which should be around 10:30AM.  E. Lynn Street will take longer to clear out.

Streets Closing:

    • E. Lynn Street between 24th Ave E. and 26th Ave E. will close starting at 6AM
    • Through traffic will be closed on E. McGraw, E. Calhoun, E. Miller, E. Boston St., and E. Newton St. between 24th and 26th Ave E. starting at 8AM
    • Lake Washington Blvd between Foster Island Road and Boyer Ave E. will close just before the race starts at 9AM and will reopen once all runners are through the course around 10AM.

If you have any questions or concerns, here is how you can contact us:

    • Josh Oliveri, Race Director – 503-926-2497
    • Email- 2022montlaketurkeytrot@gmail.com

Thanks again for the support and see you all on Thanksgiving morning!

Show your support for UDFB and register for the Montlake Turkey Trot!

October 28, 2022 by ssandall Leave a Comment

Still debating whether you want to register or donate?  Here are some good reasons to do both now!

    • UDFB served 58,000 customer visits and distributed over 2.4 million pounds of food in 2021
    • Their home delivery program reaches almost 400 home-bound customers every week.
    • The backpack program, at 14 nearby schools, provides almost 550 kids with meals and snacks for the weekend when school meals aren’t available.
    • The two UDFB off site food pantries located at Mercy Magnuson Place and North Seattle College provide groceries to another 200 households a week.
    • Two-thirds of food bank households have at least one person working at a job full time but rely on the food bank to help save a few dollars to use for other monthly expenses. One-third of food bank customers report looking for additional employment.
    • ALL net proceeds from the Montlake Turkey Trot go directly to UDFB

Sign up for the 7th Annual Montlake Turkey Trot 5K and Kids Run

October 9, 2022 by ssandall Leave a Comment

Exciting news…. we are back to in person participation in 2022!  After 2-years of virtual racing we are excited to provide a healthy opportunity for friends and neighbors to come together on Thanksgiving Day.   5K race will start at 9AM and the kids 1-mile and 0.5-mile will follow at ~9:45.

Sign up or donate at the race website.   Entry fee for the 5K will start at $35 and the kids race $20. Don’t delay registering though, prices go up on November 11th!

Don’t feel up to running or walking?  We still need lots of volunteers to make this run a success.  If you are interested, watch for an official sign up link or email us at 2022montlaketurkeytrot@gmail.com.

We will also be gladly accepting sponsorship until Oct 20th.  We are extremely grateful to our Race Partner, Windermere Midtown.  They have supported the event for the past two-years at the $10,000 level and also provided $2,500 in 2020.  Cafe Lago, a sponsor for all 7 years, is supporting at the $1,500 level.  Additional repeat sponsors include Graham Construction, Hilleberg the Tentmaker, and Fuel.  The race is expensive to produce with City permits and race directing so please consider supporting this event in anyway you can!  Email us at 2022montlaketurkeytrot@gmail.com if interested.
