An Owlet Adventure

June 9, 2018 by Larry Hubbell Leave a Comment

I find it odd that a young owlet can look older than its parents. I think it is something about the forlorn and weary looking eyes. Maybe the owlet is thinking about all the dangers involved in leaving home. Learn more about the young owl’s challenges in the latest post on:

June 3, 2017 by Larry Hubbell Leave a Comment

Even though this post is titled ‘Burning With Fire’ and it is primarily about crows it is NOT about crows learning to cook with fire. Take a look for yourself to see the variety of items a crow will consume. See more at:

Trick or Treat

October 24, 2015 by Larry Hubbell Leave a Comment

EB2R7068The Trick-or-Treat question regarding this photo is one of perception. Did you notice the beauty in the shape of the bird’s wings and tail, which I regard as the treat, or on the other hand, did you notice the second bird’s eye peering out from under the left wing, which I regard as the trick. Nature is full two-sided propositions, darkness and light, sickness and health, competition and compassion. Read more and see the photos of crows in combat on:

In the Eyes of a Hobbit | Union Bay Watch

September 27, 2014 by Larry Hubbell Leave a Comment

The Hobbit

The Hobbit
