Montlake Community Center and Playfield will be filled with joy and music on Friday, August 14, 2015, when the Montlake Music Festival and Montlake Family Fitness Project Opening Celebration kick-off at 5:30pm. The Montlake Family Fitness project was a community project for the installation of a Multi-Use Sport Court and adult fitness equipment.

Neighbors have been anxiously awaiting the opening of the court, following the Norwell fitness equipment unveiling last summer. Co-Chair LeAna Alvarado-Smith shared “Very proud of this project completion, 2 years was longer than hoped but the addition of fitness equipment and the sports court to the park was well worth it. It warms my heart seeing community members enjoying the court and equipment.”

montCC_musicfest15_inviteTo celebrate the opening, LeAna, Co-Chair Julie Ellner and the Montlake Community Center Advisory Council will be holding three prize drawings during the festival as well has passing out Pie Pops and cupcakes – stop by their table to say hello, grab a treat and enter the drawings.

Artists, Authors & Musicians Wow Montlake Again

May 22, 2014 by gehrkenathalie Leave a Comment

2nd Annual All-Montlake Art & Music Happening

2nd Annual All-Montlake Art & Music Happening

What a delicious treat! The 2nd annual All-Montlake Music & Arts Happening really happened on Sunday!

Montlake’s artists and authors showed off their amazing talents for community residents and friends who streamed through the Community Center throughout the sunny afternoon. And Montlakers in that crowd were also lucky to be there to hear the fine music of the Mother Pluckers Ukulele Band; the jazz groups–Layered System and Jazz Hands; the Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society singers; Max Mondzac, and Clark Snyder & Co. The music was terrific from every one of them.

Kids had the chance to make their own art projects at the arts table, while adults visited the Montlake Community Club business table to vote on next year’s MCC Board officers and members.  And then, to top off the experience,  bounteous refreshments were served, compliments of Montlake’s “uptown merchants:” Cafe Lago, FUEL, Mont’s Market, Montlake Blvd Market, and Traveler Montlake. (Say thanks by giving them your business & a hello. )

Our official AMMAH photographer, Jonathan Phillips and his afternoon associate, John Kemple, took so many great photos that we had a hard time choosing–so take a look at our slide show here. And, finally, thanks to the volunteers from the MCC Board who made this all happen by planning, recruiting, communicating, cajoling, setting up, welcoming, serving, staffing, cleaning up, and doing a ton of other tasks that go into such events.

AMMAH is just one of the many ways your MCC Board members are working on your behalf.  “Community” is our middle name!

Running from 7 am-6 pm weekdays, camps feature a different theme each week. Campers will explore different topics through arts, games, visits to the library, pool, and local parks, as well as at least one field trip each week.

Or try our evening 6 week camp for musicians;  EXPRESS YOURSELF – SUMMER BAND CAMP (AGES 10-18).  Musicians in this six week music program have an exciting opportunity to play in a band. Participants will receive intensive coaching and mentoring from professional musicians.
