Elvis Jr. is the youngest of three fledgling pileated woodpeckers belonging to Elvis and Priscilla. Included in the post is a photo of one of the young before it has even opened its eyes. (You will see why it is a good thing they grow feathers.) Another photo shows Junior and his sisters all begging for food at the same time. The bulk of the post covers Junior’s first venture out of the nest. I hope you enjoy it!
The eaglets have been putting away the groceries, growing quickly and learning new skills. The parents have been in charge of securing the dinner and defending the nest.
Plus there is a positive development for the UW osprey.

After nearly two years of waiting the 520 eagles, Eva and Albert, have new eaglets in their Broadmoor nest. Last year they sat on the eggs but the young never appeared. It will be great fun to watch their growth and development during the summer. To see more photos visit:
