The Air Dance

April 28, 2018 by Larry Hubbell Leave a Comment

In order to perpetuate his line a male osprey will do many things. He will gather sticks and grass to build a nest, he will do a diving dance while dangling food from his talons to entice his mate, he will chase large and dangerous Bald Eagles away from the nest site and he will ultimately work very hard to bring food to a growing family. Life is challenging for both parents but there are also some rewarding moments. Read this week’s post to see more on:

August 20, 2017 by Larry Hubbell Leave a Comment

The young osprey on your left just got out of the water after another failed fishing attempt. I could not resist his baleful stare even though he is not the reason this post is call Coffee and Cream. Please visit:

Union Bay Watch

I will explain the coffee reference in full and even discuss this young bird’s fishing technique.

Adios Amigos

September 23, 2016 by Larry Hubbell Leave a Comment

eb2r7383This week’s post focuses primarily on Kate, the youngest female osprey, from our Union Bay nest. It is nearly time for her to head for Mexico. Will she be up to the challenge? When will she leave? Will she travel alone? This week’s post attempts to answer some of these questions. See the photos and more on:
